CHALCEDONY

History and Legend

Chalcedony is a variety of mineral quartz.  It is usually grayish-white, grayish-blue, comes in shades of brown, and at times nearly black. It can also be somewhat transparent or translucent.  Native American Indians consider it a sacred stone. It fosters camaraderie and friendliness.

Magical properties

    * Chalcedony is a powerful cleanser – Tibetans call it the “stone of purity”
    * Increases both physical energy and mental vigor
    * Absorbs and releases negative energy  
    * Calms and cleanses and is good for increasing harmony in the home

Healing properties

    * Being a powerful cleanser it helps heal the blood and circulatory system
    * Heals ailments of the eyes and open sores
    * Called the “milk-stone” as it encourages the production of milk in mothers
    * Nurtures the maternal instinct
    * Increases mental concentration
